Variété géante au port particulièrement majestueux, évoquant un arbre colonnaire, à croissance de 15 à 28 m.

Cannes bleu-vert à vert uni de 8 à 18 cm de diamètre, couvertes de "velours" très doux au toucher, dont le premier entre-noeud s'évase à la base en "patte d'éléphant", aux noeuds rapprochés et cylindriques.

Feuillage très dense, aérien, retombant en cascades, aux petites feuilles vert-pâle, fines.

D'énormes turions comestibles (cuits) sortent de terre en avril, recouverts de poils très fins.

Comme toutes les variétés traçantes, prévoir une barrière anti-rhizomes pour éviter son extension, si nécessaire.
