Un guide routier le vante en 1813. Ensuite il a périclité, puis en 1993 il a été relancé par l'Association "Lou Nap del Pardailhan". Il est actuellement en inscription pour une AOC. Sa peau noire et ses radicelles cachent une chair blanche douce et sucrée à la saveur de pignon. Sa racine conique peut atteindre 50 cm à 60 cm de long, il pousse à 600 m d'altitude. On le consomme aussi bien cru que cuit en purée, frites, gratins.</ins></div></td></tr>
